To give you an idea, this blog has lasted more than 5 times as long as Kim Kardashian's latest marriage.
In the past year, we've put out over 100 posts, received almost 7,000 comments, gotten over 150,000 views, and a bunch of other bullshit numbers you don't care about. But one thing you may not realize is that this isn't actually the first A Beer for the Shower. No, this is actually just homage to my great grandfather Amos, who was putting out these same comics back in the 1920s. Great grandpa Amos was way ahead of his time, but unfortunately, he was also overshadowed by that unfunny twat Mickey Mouse. History has long forgotten him, but let's take a look back at 1927 and relive the magic...
Way ahead of its time. What a gem, right? Unfortunately, great grandpa Amos realized that there was no money in blogging in the 1920s, and he blew his brains out before the alcoholism could take him.
Anyways, we here at A Beer for the Shower are looking forward to many, many years of
As of today, we are now outsourcing all of our artwork to Japan. Japanese animation is not only twice as cheap as I am (and trust me, I'm cheap!) but it's also the way of the future. Let's look ahead to an upcoming comic strip, shall we?
...or maybe, on second thought, we can just keep making them the way we always do.
Here's to another year of politically incorrect madness by way of MSPaint!
Cheers, and stay classy, friends
Bryan and Brandon
Music: Attack in Black
Beer: Dos Equis

you always turn out be an interesting doc !!
ReplyDeletehappy b'day blog,have a blast!
Happy bithday blog!! :D
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the one year my boys and this is the reason we come back for the beer and the bullshit.
ReplyDeleteHappy happy bloggy birthday guys. And a brilliant post to celebrate.
ReplyDeleteNow we have got that milestone out of the way, I can openly stalk you for a guest post over at my place hehe.
You see, you are on my list.....
(too cheeky?, aww, you know I love you guys)
Holy crap that was great! The Steamboat Beer Boys, though a vehicle for a fart joke, was so much more. To be a true cartoon from the 20's it was missing overt racism. Ever the masters of MSPaint, you should be sponsored by Microsoft by now. That Anime version was way better than any episode of Dragon Ball Z.
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary gentlemen, your accomplishments are well deserved.
Congratulations on your anniversary!
ReplyDeleteI like how the black and white makes is seem so much more high brow. Happy Birthday ABFTS.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!
ReplyDeleteIs it weird that I read the last strip in my head with a cheesy anime voice?
Happy first birthday.
ReplyDeleteI have to say, your SLLLSH sound effect was fucking brilliant. I may have to steal...err...borrow it some time.
Way to prove you can do anything with this blog and MSPaint!! Lol! Congrats on hitting the one year mark. Never a dull moment. Thanks guys!
ReplyDeleteHAPPY BIRTHDAY.
ReplyDeleteGreat grandma is very exclusive in her way of talking or boob talking whatever is that LOL
Happy Blogiversary! I love the 1920's comic. Poor doctor wife.
ReplyDeleteYou're now mortal enemies? oh bugger. Btw got to ask now that you've been here a year... what is your favourite beer?
ReplyDeleteA-mazing! Happy Blogger Birthday to you! You guys are a riot.
ReplyDeleteLet's see...
ReplyDeleteYour grandpa was ahead of his time.
Why is his/your wife holding her breasts?
You guys must really have time on your hands.
Happy One Year Anniversary!
Happy 1st blogiversary (I think that's what it's called. Or I might have spelled it wrong)
ReplyDeleteI always love the silly tags you guys use: "cthulhu hentai", "make me a sandwich bitch" XD
And the drawings in this post were really, really, really awesome!
Happy b'day!!! xD and the Japanese thing is wayyy ahead of time indeed :P
ReplyDeleteAwesome. Your Japanimation needs more trannies, though.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday guys. I have to say I wish I could collect old ABFTS from so many years ago. I don't know why but I loved the Japanese one. I'm actually still laughing while writing this. I should probably stop. It might not be healthy.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to picture your grandfather coming back to his blog every hour to check his Page Views and seeing "0" every time...
ReplyDelete...and being very sad about it.
Happy first birthday.
Congratulations, guys. One year down... 99 more to go! Today's post looks really great. No shortage of creativity whatsoever. No, Sir.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your blog!
ReplyDeleteMickey mouse ain't got shit on grandpa Amos! A beer for the shower has withstood the test of time!
I too, had that cheesy anime voice playing out in my head as I was reading!
Absolute classic. I could not stop laughing. Bryan-san/Brandon-san... And the look on your wife's face when she had to go make a sandwich... priceless. You guys make my day!
ReplyDeleteThe anime was hysterical. Happy Birthday blog!! I once saw a Charlie Chaplin movie were he was wrongfully put in prison and stumbled on some cocaine in the chow hall. While he was jacked up on cocaine he broke out of prison and in doing so all the other inmates were released. The turn of the century was a wild time!
ReplyDeleteYou guys really covered all your bases in different forms of animation. classic and anime! lol. A fantastic 1 year anniversary post!!
ReplyDeleteHere's to you guys! I raise my glass to you tonight as I can FINALLY legally buy my first drink! :D
You should do the "to be continued." You could be the next John Byrne and Chris Claremont!
ReplyDeleteHappy blog birthday!
ReplyDeleteI burst out laughing in the middle of my computers class while reading this.
Lol, do you realy make all this funny stuff ?
ReplyDeletetwo seperate comics in one post, u guys love yer jerbs. and u guys look high as fuck in the first comic, if that is possible...
ReplyDeleteCheers, greatness as usual.
ReplyDeleteHappy Blog Birthday.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to say "I read you back when..."
You are funny boys. You make me snort.
I wish you success in all your endeavors.
Most excellent interpretations. Clearly you've watched enough Japanimation to become fluent in the language.
ReplyDeletehappy blogday!
Congrats on the one year mark. Keep up the good work. I feel you didn't spend enough time on the recap. Half the episode is supposed to be a recap of the past 8 episodes.
ReplyDeleteThis is the THE BEST POST ever in any blog. I cant appreciate enough. Love it. The felix type cartoon and the Samuraieee , nin(ja)compoopisms.
ReplyDeleteUltimate. So cute and very pretty. Good you said good bye to your software career.
And you really made your first birthday party for your blog special, special.
Seriously I have no words, I am going to take printout of this
NOTE: I would be stricking off all Brandon's poop jokes. Sorry Brandon. But kids cant read much but I think they can understand poop, fart, fatulence and stuff :)
I think joining this blog is quite possibly one of the smartest decisions I've ever made! (sad I know) Freaki hilarious!
ReplyDeleteI cant stop looking at each picture closely and hoe much details are there and how much thought has been dedicated to this.
ReplyDeleteI love that wife picture. Petal dropping from flower in her hat and her sad face and eyelashes.
You guys are genius. You are born to do this. :)
Don't outsource, just keep doing what you are doing. Congrats on one year of a fun blog and giving me my morning laugh.
ReplyDelete"GO MAKE ME A SANDWICH BITCH!" ... I just ... I ... that was the hardest I've laughed in a long time.
ReplyDeleteIsnt it odd that Bryan and Brandon have small dark eyes whereas Bryan-san and Brandon-san have big lighter shade color eyes? I am not a racist, I am not a racist, I am not a racist.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on a very successful year of blogging!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on a great year! Your Great Grandpa was way ahead of his time.
ReplyDeleteHaha you have seriously outdone yourself with these, I'm not sure which mini story I liked more. The expressions on the silent movie panels had me chuckling uncontrollably though. Great way to celebrate the beerfortheshower birthday! Here's to many more years to come.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your one year!!! I shall have many-a-drink tonight in your honor. Well, I have many-a-drink every night anyway but tonight it will have meaning. Cheers!!!
ReplyDeleteThis might just be your greatest post ever. I enjoy strolls to the old days so much.
ReplyDeleteHappy one year, Gentlemen! Enjoy yourselves :-)
lol
ReplyDeleteThat was great!! :D
One year down and the liver keeps going. You should do a Finnish version that's all depressing and angsty.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!! (:
ReplyDeleteI am pleased that you did not succumb to the temptation of hiring cheap overseas Japanese slave labor...although the money you saved could have been used to buy more beer. Bless you, and Happy anniversary.
ReplyDeleteHappy Blogaversary - you guys rock! I LOVED the silent movie - added bonus points for using the word "poot" in a blog post. I thought the anime needed some work though - I couldn't figure out how to read it from right to left (I wouldn't normally know this - but my son reads Manga like they are going out of style -which I sometimes wish they were...)
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping you have at least another 365 and a half days of wonderment and blogging... cheers!
ReplyDeleteBlimey, 50 comments already! I think you're onto something with the alternative stylings... Genius! I loved how a lone sad petal fell off the flower on wifey's hat at the end. Happy anniversary and here's to many more. Mondays and Thursdays rock!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the year!!! Your forefathers were amazing...blogging in the 20's who knew!? Not I! Impressive to say the least.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you aren't going the Asian route...anime and Japanese cartoons make my face hurt!
I think your great-grandfather was undone by the foul folks at Disney and their shirtless Steamboat Willie.
ReplyDeleteWell, that, and Prohibition.
That's great! I don't know which I like better, the old blog or the outsourced blog!
ReplyDeleteOn second thought, being old myself, I think I like grandpa's blog....
Congratulations! It must feel nice, you go do your great grand pappy proud!
ReplyDeleteAlso, for Americans, your Japanese 'awesome' is pretty legit. Still a little off, but pretty close.
A Beer for the Doctor is amazing. Why is it amazing, you ask? Because it is Old-Timey. And anything Old-Timey is 60% more palatable. Fact.
ReplyDeleteGood work guys-san, may your futures be paved with the bones of the conquered.
ReplyDeleteAnd your wallets be filled by selling out as much as you can.
A Happy and glorious year!
Rusty-san
Holy shit, major LOLs here. Oh and dude... you're wife's hot.
ReplyDeleteSend her over here... I'll let her vote all she wants. (After I get my sandwich.)
Here's to the next year of insanity... You guys rock.
Happy blog-o-versary! When you two make the big time, which you will, remember we loved you first :)
ReplyDeleteCurse your inevitable betrayal!
ReplyDeleteAnd I responded to your comment about writing in 3rd person present... I'd love to read a bit of your stuff to get an idea of the flow.
Happy blogging anniversary! I am so glad you guys stuck with it. You make me laugh every time I visit :)
ReplyDeleteDisney Land would have had better rides if Amos hadn't been outdone by that bastard of a mouse. Digging up Walt and dragging his dead body through the streets for his lack of vision sounds like a good idea to me. I raise my mug to another year of madness from the boys at A Beer For the Shower.
ReplyDeleteHahaha...I suggest keep up with the Jap comic strip...this one was hilarious :)))
ReplyDeleteI love how you captured the essence of Japanese television series. They really do unfold like that except over a longer period of time. Great job guys, I loved the black and white clips, not that I'm condoning what was said about women. I'm totally for women...I'm going to stop now.
ReplyDeleteAs they say in South Auckland, "Mean-as gee!"
ReplyDeleteBooker T would say, "100th anniversary of ABfTS, we coming for you nigga!"
Seriously, happy 1st birthday, ABfTS!
Wow what an incredibly long run. You got me at the troll dad posture. With jap anime, you need long long LONG chats before battle, with them talking about their utmost powerful move and how it will beat them. In the next episode main character fails and needs to spend 4 other episodes to train to beat the enemy. Rinse and repeat.
ReplyDeleteEhhh... To be authentic Japanese animations your mouths have to be way smaller and the eyes way bigger.
ReplyDeleteAlso, there were no boobs. Can't be Japanimation without boobs.
Happy birthday blog guys.. Loved the black and white, but that wife bit wouldn't work these days of course. Your wife would be side kicking your ass all the way to the kitchen Bryan-son!
ReplyDeleteIt was a perfect read this morning after watching last night one of my favorite Martial Arts movies (but not Japanese).
Cheers to another year!
happy birthday :D
ReplyDeleteYa'll have gone totally off the rails, but that's why I love you! Happy bloversary!
ReplyDeleteBryan San, 1920 to 20xx! Way to go :D
ReplyDeleteCongratulations !!!
ReplyDeletePlease don't go all manga on us.
Grandpa would be proud of you :)
LOL very good post!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on being 1 year old ABFTS! :D
ReplyDeleteAww poor Meli... Glad to see her back though, I've missed her. And yes, I do have a girl-crush on your wife.
BTW, be careful with all this telling her what to do and "bitch this" and bitch that". She did make a shiv out of a toothbrush, remember?!
The Beer for My Shower. Hahaha! I once dated a Korean guy who used to say: Rule of the thumb! I teased him a lot. He was a good sport, though.
ReplyDeleteI raise my, ugh--well it's a coffee at the moment (maybe I'll throw a shot of whiskey in it)-- my spiked mug of coffee to you both. Congrats on one full year of blogging. That's a notable milestone, my friends. To One Hundred more years of drunken fun.... salute!
(From vaudeville to anime. Hmmm...) ;)
Amazing, it's always a treat when you experiment with style. Perhaps your next one should be in the style of East European animation.
ReplyDeleteIn Soviet Russia, the beer drinks you!
Haha, very clever going with the different genres today.
ReplyDeleteOn an interesting note, with 1335 followers for the course of a year, you're signing up about 3.6 a day. Even more interesting, considering you switched to two posts a week, that's roughly eight a month. If you signed up 300 people since, that's about 12 new converts for every post.
Wow, I am doing a bit too much studying. Anyway, its meant to show how funny you guys are, very impressive ratios!
Congratulations on 1 year of being blog-masters.
ReplyDeleteI love the b/w 1920's version, I'd like to see these characters again :) and love the Japanese versions of yourselves!!
ps. I'd love to see a mspaint version of me...?? if you're ever bored, please feel free to create one :) haha
- Juliet x
Dude, please start making these comics into t-shirts!
ReplyDeleteHappy One Year! Congratulations on your blog success. You earned bragging rights.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on One Year!
ReplyDeleteYour politically incorrect posts make me cringe...but in a good way.
That was definitely my favorite "Beer for the Shower" comic blog.
ReplyDeletehappy blog birthday, another reason you shouldn't outsource, the japanese version requires a longer attention span!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I found this blog about 3 weeks ago. I am currently employed at my state's health department. I sit at the front desk, therefore everyone sees my face when they walk in the door. This post had me laughing so hard I could not do my job. Thank you guys for making me laugh at work. LOL!!!!!(Literally)
ReplyDeleteThree cheers Bryan san, Brandon san.
ReplyDeleteBelated blog birthday wishes.
I love that Japanese animation comic. Oh my goodness.
ReplyDeleteAlso, marry me. (Wait...)
misstapir.blogspot.com
The two man jumping away as trolls at the end of "grandpa's" comic... OMG... :'D
ReplyDelete
